June 2008 Update

Wow has life been busy.
I am coming up to finishing the first draft of my next play - the initial working title no longer fits the play, so at the moment it is untitled, just called "Play 2".

There is sill some research I have to do, but I am glad to have it thus far. I'm hoping to have a fully complete draft done (research done, and ready for hard core editing) by the middle of August. Such that I can pass it on to Adrian, who helped both with some of the critiquing of my last play as well as directing it.

Hopefully I can get it done. I am in the middle of the chaos of moving, and taking a course on Poetry and Plays through Athabasca University, so hopefully I can meet all my deadlines.

On another note of busyness, you may have noticed my website (HughKemeny.ca) is down. My web host had informed me that he was getting out of hosting, with plenty of time for me to find another host. However I seemed to have other things that were more pressing. I am in the process of getting a new web host, but even when I do my site may not be up for a while. I would like to revamp it, but as all things either need time or incentive, it may wait. (Though if you know anyone that could design the site for me, please let me know.)

Changes are a coming

There are a few changes to my website coming, and to here as a result (though I will hold onto this blog url).

My webpage provider is shutting down his hosting service, and so I have to move my webpage to another server. The web url ( HughKemeny.ca ) will still be the same, just that where it is stored will move.

As part of that move I am hoping to revamp my website. Eric has been rather busy to help me (he was the one that created the initial website design - encouraging me to get it up for the play).

However to get to this stage I require a couple things, and you my readers can possibly help....
I need to know of a place to host my site, and I'd like someone to help design the webpage (to a point that I can easily update it, and have a more elegant layout.).

So please comment on this post, or email me with any suggestions.

Thanks all.

Weird Dreams

So I have not really kept up on this blog, and that is just what happens in my life. I get busy and things I start fall to the way-side.
But some of the rocky road of life is settling, and I am realizing I need to do more random thought writing, so I hope that will mean I'll resurect this blog.

A good place to start with the random thoughts is a few interesting dreams I've had recently.

1) Random Acts of Writing:
This dream was a few weeks ago now. In the dream I was going around asking people for common sayings, and then using the internet doing a search to build a random story from the information the websites (such as wikipedia) would have on the common saying. That was until one person started to give me some metaphorical story - beyond the short common saying.

2) Feline Comfort:
Last week I was feeling quite down (life had thrown me a couple curve balls, that hit me hard), and this one dream seemed to comfort me. I am not sure if the entire thing was a dream or if I actually woke up at one point. Where I recall it starting is feeling a cat come visit me in bed. Now I do not live with cats, but grew up with them. I 'woke up' (for real or in my dream?) and said to myself: 'That felt like the spirit of Hailey (my old cat, passed away about 4 years ago). Thank you for visiting me Hailey.' Then I went back to sleep, where two more cats visited me in bed - I could feel them, and hear them purr. I got up (in the dream) to follow them, and see how they got into my apartment. They showed me that I had left the apartment door slightly open. They left my apartment and I followed (not wearing anything), and they went down the hall to a neighbour's apartment where there was a good looking guy waiting for them - he'd just moved in (in the dream). It felt comforting to have the cats visit me.

3) Are they Good or are they Bad?:
Last night's dream was very sci-fi. I was assisting with the set up of a colony on a planet. We heard word of a ship of unknown origins on its way to us, and were monitoring any changes in extra-terrestrial signals. I was watching a monitor that showed a variety of sinisodal waves (stellar spectrums, radio waves, etc). As word came in that the ship was approaching, I noticed a few signs on the monitor - signals changing. Eventually all the signals had the same characteristic (looked the same), and as I looked up and mentioned this we could see this huge ship appear in the sky. We had no communication from them, but there was nothing to believe they were threatening, but nothing to believe they were alies either. The dream ended pretty much there, the ship in the sky, a feeling of wonder and uncertainty, with a little fear of the 'unknown'.

Poll for Eric

Eric MJ is thinking of returning to school and taking an education after degree (his first degree is in mechanical engineering).

So he does not have to make a blog with a poll, I am posting his question here (the poll is on the right):

Should he go into the Elementary or Secondary schooling stream?
For those not familiar with the Canadian (Alberta) Schooling system:
Elementary is grades 1-6 (approximate age of the students are 5-11).
Secondary is grades 7-12 (approximate age of the students are 12-17) - this is usually broken into Junior and Senior High School (Jr High is usually grades 7-9 (ages 12-14) and Sr. High is usually grades 10-12 (ages 15-17)).

Please post your comments (any reasons for your choice) to this blog post.

If you don't know Eric, you are still welcome to vote. But here is a little about him (I put here also because I added the third option to suggest he does further education and teach Post-Secondary - college, university):
Eric is a fairly bright man, quite interested in the sciences (though he did not like the biology dissection labs). He has a creative and imaginative mind (which is what I like about him). In university he got interested in history through a sociology course on the Impact of Technology on Society Throughout History (or something of the sort). It was recently noted that he has a good heart and at least one toddler likes him (and it is not his nephew). He can be quite intellectual when he talks, and even some adults (me included) sometimes don't know what he's saying.

That is my attempt to present him in as rounded a way as I can (I don't want to bias people's voting).
